Auto Close Duplicate Tabs — Privacy Policy
Effective October 12, 2026
Short version: Auto Close Duplicate Tabs does not collect, transmit, sell or share any data. Everything it does happens on your device.
What Auto Close Duplicate Tabs does
Auto Close Duplicate Tabs is a Safari extension for iPhone, iPad and Mac that closes duplicate tabs. To do that, it compares the addresses of your open tabs with each other.
Information the extension accesses
- Addresses of open tabs. The extension reads the web addresses of your open tabs, on the websites you allow it to access in Safari, only to detect duplicates. Safari hides the addresses of tabs on any other website, so the extension never sees them. The comparison happens entirely on your device.
- Your settings. Your choices (keep the newest or the oldest tab, and whether to show a notice when duplicates close) are saved in Safari's extension storage on your device.
- A temporary record of open tabs. To decide which copy of a duplicate to keep, the extension keeps a small record of your currently open tabs, such as when each was last used. It stays on your device and entries are removed when tabs close.
Information we collect
None. Auto Close Duplicate Tabs has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code. It makes no network connections of its own. Your tab addresses, browsing activity and settings never leave your device, and the developer cannot see them.
Information shared with third parties
None. There is nothing to share, because nothing is collected.
Your control
- You choose which websites the extension can access in Safari's extension settings, and you can change or revoke that access at any time.
- Turning off or deleting the extension removes its saved settings and records from your device.
Information from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give the developer aggregated, anonymous statistics such as download counts and crash reports. These are provided by Apple under Apple's privacy policy and do not include your browsing activity or identify you.
Children
Auto Close Duplicate Tabs does not collect information from anyone, including children.
